arrow is blinking and when the computer is used to check for an error code nothing comes up. The car is running fine. I am driving the mechanic crazy because I keep taking the car back. Any suggestions?
Blinking arrow 850
If you're checking it through the OBD connector under the coin tray, you may not get any codes because of the reason that not all transmission codes trigger an engine fault.
Try the procedure described below.

Sometimes the mode selector switch (Win/Econ/Sprt) may trigger some bogus errors for the transmission system. Try clearing them as described in that page and see if it comes back.

Check the fuse under the hood. The fuse on my 850 somehow works itself loose...twice in three years.

Just replaced a transmission sensor that was causing the winter mode arrow to blink indicating a transmission problem and also triggering the check engine light. this was recommended by my Volvo mechanic. so far so good.

Interesting... can you tell us what sensor, and how much it was for the part, and to have it installed?
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Matthew,
The part is is called "PNP Switch". Volvo P/N is 9466012 and it lists for $125.78. My mechanic charged $75 to replace for a total of $200. So far the problem has not re-occurred.
