Say, did you end up with definitive speaker sizing? If so, could you post it.

thanks

Sure...

Front doors: 5.25" fit, but the holes didn't line up and I had to drill new ones.
Dash: 3.5" will fit with very slight modification
Rear doors: Same as front doors - 8ohms though
Rear deck: Dunno yet. It looks like 6x9, but I'm not going to swear by it. However, they ARE 8ohms...

I'm in the process of trying to decide if I want to remove the rear deck speakers and cut the holes to accept 8" subs or to learn how to fiberglass and make custom sub boxes in the trunk... It's all going to have to wait until spring though as I don't have a garage and it's cold here in NY ;)

ok, thanks. I'll be working on mine this summer.

Say, if you want to shovel the back half of my driveway, you're welcome to use my garage. I've got a propane heater too... ;) It's cold here too.

Haha... Yea, I'm getting so tired of snow. Look at my avitar, that pic is only 2 weeks old. :\

Just keep in mind that the rear door and deck speakers are wired in parallel to each other. If you replace both sets with standard 4-ohm speakers, the amp may fry because it will only see a 2-ohm load. If you can find 8-ohm car spekers, it will work, but those are rare in N. America - I've seen them for sale in Europe though. If you are to replace the rear speakers, I'd suggest replacing the deck OR doors...

The screw holes on Volvo stock speakers are not standard, so most likely you will need to drill new holes for the new speakers to fit. Not hard, but can be a bit of a pain.
