1993 850GLT nothing blowing out of vents any longer
1993 850GLT nothing blowing out of vents any longer
Up until about a week ago, my blower worked fine although I had no air. One morning I got in my car and when I turned the ignition to turn it on what appeared to be white smoke (odorless) came out from behind the steering wheel. Since that time, nothing happens when I turn the air on...no fan, no air..nothing. Also, the two orange lights now blink a LOT longer than the 20 seconds that they used to blink for. I'm not a mechanic, and have no tools to check codes but I am more than willing to look at things if you tell me where to look and what to look for...

It sounds like something in the ECC shorted out. You have a 93 850 so you can check the codes under the hood. There is a write up on the forum on how to do this. Once you get the ECC codes, let us know what they are and we can point you in the right direction.
Okay, I found the write up - I do not have the cable that is mentioned... Do I need to get one from a parts store? If so, what is it called? My apologies for the 'likely' stupid question but I'm new to this.....

Are you saying that the flywire that plugs into the ports is missing?

I will go out and take a look at it, but I'm just confused on what the write-up is telling me to plug in...it says to "plug in the selector cable" - if there is a cable attached to the car that I plug in I'm sure I can find that. I was under the assumption that this was a cable that I will need? If not, that's GREAT! I'm going out to check now!
Okay, I am now feeling really dumb as I cannot even locate where the unit is to even think about looking at the LEDs - can someone instruct me to where exactly the 'strut tower' is? I looked at where I thought it was and cannot see anything that looks remotely close to any diagrams I have seen. Is it hidden by something?

The box is behind the driver's side headlight near the washer fluid filler cap. It is pictured here:

Alright, here are the results. I only received one code when I removed the diagnostic unit A cover and inserted the flywire into socket 2. The code was 1-2-1 which is the Mass Airflow Sensor.
What do I do next? Do I need to run any diags on unit B or any others on unit A?
