The drivers side front door mounted speaker cuts in and out almost at random. Although, if I notice it off, I can bring the balance all the way to the left and turn up the volume and the speaker will kick in. Then it may kick out again a little while later....
I don't know much about the electronics of it. Is it a speaker problem? Radio problem? wiring problem??/
Anyone have thoughts, similar problems, etc...

My '00 S70 radio has half of the buttons illuminated?? What would cause this? Do I have to replace the entire radio or is there bulb or a fuse that is causing this?
I have a 2000 Volvo XCV70 and it does the same thing. I was going to take it to a stereo place and have them take a look; I think it must be a short in the speaker..... let me know if you get yours fixed and I'll do the same.

Well, the cutting out thing is usually attributed to a short/crummy wiring. You may want to look at the speakers that are giving you trouble and make sure the bare leads aren't touching anything that would short it.
As far as the lights go, it simply sounds like a coincidence that one side of the lights went out and the other didn't. They can be replaced pretty easily.

Same thing in my 2000 XC V70!
Dealer has replaced radio 2-3 times, and speaker in question at least once, so apparently not that. Easy for them to dodge issue when it can't necessarily be replicated in dealer's garage. Any they don't want to spend the time to open up the dash to examine the wiring, at least not while we were under warranty. Maybe now that we are T&M, they'd be more accommodating, but I don't think I'm going back.

Isn't it interesting that it would be on the same year and model. I hesitate taking it to the dealer or a sound shop because of the expense and I don't want my dash torn apart. Thanks for the sympathy and guess I will just listen to it the way it is for a while. If anyone finds anything, let me know.
