Help, Advice, Owners' Discussion and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's stylish, distinctive P2 platform cars sold as model years 2001-2007 (North American market year designations).
I'm trying to make sure I have all the parts for when I replace my upper strut mount spring seat and bearing. It seems like there might be another part that I need to replace but i'm not sure. Here is a picture of the top of the strut. It seems like something else is blown out.
I greatly appreciate anyone who can help me figure this out.
You need what is called the upper spring seat
I recommend you buy an XC90 spring seat or IPD makes their own.
Both are heavier duty and will last longer.
You can replace that side with either of those while the other side has the OEM all are the same size and fit almost all Volvos,
When you're in there you will see what else you may or may not need.
The strut plate is a metal piece with a machined bearing hole.
You can see if it's bad when removed, most likely it's OK

Volvo has changed all the 01- P2 cars, including the 99- S80 to use the XC90 sping seats, it's official. They still say to sell the early type for the P1 -98 cars, but you can use the XC90 type.
