I've definitely been worried about this, thanks for the tip on how to check wear. The turbo is just covered in 1/4' of oil. Might steal my buddies 15g from his R he put a 19t in. Since I'm already doing that work, and badly overdue for a new exhaust, would you say going to a bigger turbo is worth it?Clemens wrote: 21 Oct 2022, 16:07 +1 on the CBV.
Also, a worn beyond repair 15G can easily reduce the max. boost. Ask me how I know. You can usually tell by longitudinal movement of the blade and shaft with the fresh air pipe removed.

Could be MAF also, but whatever the case you're looking at unmetered air getting into the system... so back to my meme, or CBV, or dead turbo... the culprit is the air component of the 3 things you need for combustion: air, fuel, spark.

I did tcv lines already, the guy before me had them plugged in all wrong or not plugged in, and used 8mm ID rubber![]()
Just ordered IPD TCV, Bosch IAC, and a MAF meter. If I ship of Theseus this car it should run well.

A 18T or 19T surely pumps up the fun factor, but you have to be aware they call the 19T "The Rodbender" for a reason. A 19T calls for a new tune. It's mandatory. And you still risk screwing up your internals and the AT. A M56 swap is surely nice and smart for a 19T. At least reliability and long time usability are on your list.
Also, your car should really be as close to stage 0 before increasing the torque and hp output.
If I could get my hands on a functioning 15G I'd go that route if yours is shot.
