Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
I will find out tomorrow hopefully. Worst I can do is it doesn't work or I break something!
I will connect it up with a head unit and see how it works.
Thanks for the info though.
Neil.

OK, now I am confused. I tried connecting the antenna to the blue/white signal wire from the radio output to see what happened and it was a great big nothing. Connecting again to the switch I had bypassing the radio the antenna still raises and lowers in reverse (to me) but works.
I cannot see why the blue/white connection does not work.
I do have a question on the Power Supply I am using. There are 3 banana plug outlets:
1) One marked Red (I presume +ve positive DC voltage),
2) One marked in all Black (which is -ve polarity)
3) One marked Black with a Green highlight (called Grounding).
Should I be connecting the ground lead to 2) or 3)?
Reading on line, there is mention of linking 2) and 3). Not clear why.
Thanks,
Neil.

OK. Forget all my questions! So, while waiting for potential help, I decided to go and test the mast again. Connected everything up using the head unit and the blue/white wire. This time it worked, but again it worked in reverse. Turned radio off, the mast extended, turned radio off and it retracted.
As the wiring is all soldered in the antenna, I could not see how I could have made an error on it. Also the motor itself is hard wired into the unit so I was baffled. I decided to find my other Volvo antenna and had a look at it. All I could see was the cover for the motor had the Volvo label facing the opposite direction. So as there was nothing to lose (and that could not have been fitted wrong as there were paint marks over the join), I removed the 2 screws and reversed the cover. Bingo!! Now it works as it should??? Radio off, mast lowers, radio on and mast raises!! Yay!!
I have absolutely no idea why the orientation of the motor cover should make a difference, but I do know the motor magnets are inside the cover. So all is normal and works as I thought it should! Another step forward in the Test system development!

So today I tested the 2 Volvo masts again as well as the 2 x aftermarket units I got from Canadian Tire on clearance.
All worked in terms of raising and lowering. The only test I have left to do is to actually use them for signal reception and verify they are good. I can't do this until I get the speaker box up and running so that is the next step.
