The ejector (transfer) 'pump' is really a pressure control system that works on residual fuel system pressure to move fuel from one side to the other. It has no pump motor. The other thing it has is a fuel level sensor that is linked the the fuel pump level sensor and the car averages the 2 levels to give a fuel level remaining in your whole tank.

Hello from a fellow '98 AWD owner! Good to see another interesting-color wagon brought back.

1. Replace the pump inside the basket with a Bosch or DW pump - no need for hackery. ProParts puts the pro in problem - they are crap and not to be trusted. Another member recently had the same issue with that ProParts pump getting super loud and continuously dying in his '98 R.
2. Blowby may be bad turbo seals or leaky valve stem seals. The factory PCV in these cars is decent, and there's no real need to mess with it. It may also just need to be driven.
3. Yep, they all sag eventually. I took the lower-the-front route as well, but keep in mind they'll likely try to work sometimes resulting in an inconsistent ride height, sometimes between sides, that makes it impossible to align properly. I'm currently saving up for actual suspension so I can get it aligned properly. If you want to keep stock ride height and bring the back up, check out the article I linked below - you can use S70 AWD stuff to replace the rear stuff without shelling out $800 for a pair of Nivos.

Enjoy the car! Here's a picture of mine

Tropic Green is rare and attractive but I'll always love Emerald Green the most. Fits right in next to the GUL and Sonics.

Bag and tag!!

Should add that many further north would kill for a pair of rear brake dust plates in the condition yours are in. Again a long NLA item for AWD P80 cars.

I am able order new expanders. I guess in USA they not kept in stock.
We can’t get them at all over here. Can you tell us how much they are? We might put together a group buy if you are willing?

Op- if you search my Kat Resurrection thread you will find a source for the OE fuel pump insert, which has to be built into the unique AWD cartridge .they are about $100 as of 2022

Ordered that Walbro pump, thanks!
I reached under and the whole tank was vibrating - I don't think that'll last long.
I should have hinged that access panel!

Regarding blow-by - someday I'll do a compression check. Despite the PCV service, there seems to be a lot of oil making its way through the large hose to the PTC. No blue smoke and it runs fine, but the dipstick still shoots out smoke.

Walbro pumps are loud and not very reliable. Get a Bosch pump or DW200, do it right, and you won’t have to touch it again.

As I recall, Robert used a DW pump, but he wanted the volume for the tune he runs.
Some of the folks on swedespeed have had good luck with Walbro, but I haven't had that particular adventure on an AWD yet.
ProParts go in the same drawer with URO. Please don't put that stuff on your car.

I’ve read the opposite about Walbro - noisy, with a few reported early failures. I have a DW pump ready to go when I decide to do it on my AWD. I don’t make any more power than a stock T5, but everyone loves the DW pump so it’s worth it to get it instead of something people have had issues with, especially since it’s the same price
