Is this rim repairable, and then safe to drive?

This
Makes
Me
Crazy

I guess you teach yourself to live with it. To me it’s not visual and intuitive and direct.
A very unmechanical friend blew up his BMW 3-series because he didn’t understand the oil level system and blindly charged on.

Something bad has happened to that wheel. The bead will hold air for now, but note the crack is traveling down from the lip into the bead.
Is this aluminum? There are wheel shops that can restore alum wheels to new. No idea the cost compared to finding a good used one.

Found a replacement over Ebay; but then got the crack welded. The weld specialist says, aluminum wheel repairs and lasts forever. It won't crack at the same spot again.

Did you require some straightening or just welding? If you don't mind sharing the cost so we all can get an idea in case we need to find a local shop. Thanks.

The quote was $140, it included removing wheel from the car (this-that-this-that) and then putting it back on after the repair. I walked in with just the rim and got it back the next day for less.

matthew1 wrote: 08 Oct 2023, 09:31 Here you go, this has fluids... but stubbornly doesn't address for instance auto transmission fluid replacement. It only, moronically, says "Automatic transmission fluid level, check/adjust". We all remember the P2 fiasco with "lifetime" fluid.

One year since Matthew's ^ post. Our 2020 V60CC will be off the warranty soon.

Now preparing for the 50K tune up - just oil and filters. The fluid refresh is coming in stages between 50 - 60K -- mileage when the spark plugs are due.

Fall weather is here.
