Just for information the purpose of the magnet is to allow the removal of the key in park. This stops the key being removed in gear or neutral. If you get a shifter blind failure away from home you can take it to bits throw out all the bits of shifter blind but save the magnet and attach to the bottom of the circuit board with insulating tape just under what looks like an electronic chip. Reassemble it all and drive home being careful not to drop anything down the hole around the shifter.
I know ‘cos I got back from France like that!
