As I understand it, I can refill right through the dipstick tube using a long funnel.

Thanks everyone for their responses; hopefully this will solve the problem. After that it's on to the heater core to see if there really is a leak.

Yes, go slow. A pint in the transmission on the dipstick is like a quart in the motor.
