All Volvo white motors are DOHC, meaning two overhead camshafts. The B5252S is a 10 valve variant of the 20 valve engine. They had two very distinct camshafts. It shares the same capacity of 2435cc as the B5254S but has different pistons and head design. I've posted a pic of the piston from a B5252S 10 valve (twin cam) You can clearly see the flycuts to clear the valves. I own, and have dismantled both of my vehicles' heads which are B5252S 10 valve and DOHC with 2 camshafts.

LuckyPhil beware the '95 model 10 valve cambelts are 23mm 144 tooth and are unique to this motor.

Engine series works this way: 1st digit denotes number of cylinders second and third are capacity (ie25 meaning 2.5 litres) and the third is the number of valves per cylinder. My 960 has a B6304F meaning six cylinders, 3.0 litres and four valves per cylinder.

Nice looking Brocksport lucky phil; I have a 95 10 valve wagon I'm about to complete after an engine swap/partial rebuild. Keep us posted how you go.

What did you have in mind, power outputs or other stuff? Power is 106KW @5400rpm torque is 206Nm @ 3600rpm

As you can see not a powerhouse but enough for the car's weight. Extra perfromance can be gained by the use of a Volvo 960 throttle plate. Not many modded n/a ones out there, though. I've had my fair share of trouble finding valvetrain parts from the U.S.

There is a UK eBay seller called parts_monster. He has all the 10 valve parts inc PCV canisters, rear cam seals and timing belts (which are all not shared with the 20 valve U.S versions) Otherwise everything else is 20 valve compatible inc engine mounts, CV joints, gearbox etc

The rear engine cover is unique to the 10 valve and lists at $160 here at Bilia Volvo ...however it's available in the U.K

I don't know much about them either.
