I've been thinking about this issue for a while now as my car hasn't been setting off the gas nozzle at gas stations recently; so for now no more problem. I was wondering however, if there was a problem with the EVAP system, like a clog in the line or the canister itself, wouldn't that set off a CEL?

According to AutoZone's computer, yes it can trip the light. When they plug you in and get the codes(if the CEL is on) they will give you a reciept with what the codes mean and possible repairs. I don't have the sheet anymore, but my car had two evap related codes tripped. Possible repairs listed were were cap, vent, hoses, canister.

Sorry I don't remember what codes and all possible repairs I lost the print out. The thing is, I have my car two years with this problem but the engine light has only been on six months.

Hmm, like I said I haven't been having any problems recently but even when I did have the issue of my gas tank repressurizing while filling up there was no check engine light.

I don't know, but maybe it isn't the questionable condition tripping the cel. Maybe it's filling up with the engine running.

I posted this problem a while back and didn't get any responses.

Yeah, It's the only way to get the car to take gas without standing there for a half hour dribbling alittle at a time.

Wow. I am by no means an expert in the EVAP system, but have you taken a look at the cannister or anything?

No. I spent alot of time, effort and money rebuilding the front end the last couple of months just to make the car safe to drive. I never got around to investigating it. It's a pain in the ass but it doesn't really effect anything. as long as I can get a hacked state inspection sticker next May I'm not going to worry about it, besides it's too cold now to do anything.

Do you know what the rpm's should be? I took the car on a trip yesterday where I could do more than 70mph. At 70 I'm at 2500rpm. It sounded high, like there should be another gear.
