Ok. So I'm having some problems posting pictures on here. Maybe I need Adobe, which my wife's computer does not have. If anyone would like to see the pics, let me know.

Also, I understand there are several different looks of the 850 engine, depending on turbo or non-turbo. Mine is a 5-cylinder, non-turbo. My fuel rail is simple to take off and the injectors came right out. The job was very easy. The toughest part for me was getting electrical connectors to "pop" back on the injectors.

Wait a minute! I figured it out.

Here is a very short illustration of the install of the f.p.r. I did. Nothing close to a how-to but there are several people who have viewed this thread, so I figured this may help somebody. :D And remember, I didn't start taking pics until I started to put it back on.

By the way, do you all think its time for new injectors? I'm sure everything on this car is original, including the injectors. They look bad, but they don't misfire anything. This car has been well taken care of, but as I found out yesterday, even the tailight bulbs have never been replaced. The one that was burned out had a long life though. I just went ahead and replaced all of them.

You definitely want to make sure the injector "rings" or "washers" are seated properly. To ensure this happens, I recommend tightening the 2 fuel rail bolts evenly.

I guess the fuel lines are different on certain models b/c my Chilton manual told me to use two wrenches to disconnect them. Well, obviously I only needed to unscrew the bolt which holds them together. This takes an 8mm socket.

A look at the injectors. They are D-I-R-T-Y. Don't worry, I cleaned them up the best I could before I put them back in. Also, you can see where the gas stained the manifold. The leak pooled at the top of the manifold and leaked down to cause that stain.

The new f.p.r. on the left and the old f.p.r. on the right. If this is the cause of my leak, the only thing I can think of is maybe the orange o-ring shrunk. Everything else looks ok.

Could the FPR in my '03 S60 also causing the hard starts. Does anybody know the exact location. Thanks to this site for helping all of us DIYers.

I just did this job on a 2000 V70, NA. It's basically the same. The only difference is that the fuel line is a quick disconnect type line and requires a special tool to get it apart. At Harbor Freight the set cost like, $5.99 and it's called a fuel line AC quick disconnect. The light blue one will do the trick.

Also, the Fuel Pressure Damper is different. Make sure to order the correct part.

Is there a definitive way to test this? My car has hard starts, some hesitation, is running rich, and has bad mpg. Those seem to be the symptoms to look for. I also noticed a lack of built up fuel pressure when i went to remove the fuel rail to do the pcv.

Since this is somewhat expensive, is there a test to run like holding pressure for xxx numbers of seconds or similar? im going to take the vacuum line off and test for fuel when i get back to my car after work.

Also, does the rear fpr go bad?

Edit: i just unhooked the vacuum line and plugged the port on the tree, after five minutes there was no appparent change in the engine.
