the drivers door switch is more than a switch, it is a module with a small computer brain inside that stores trouble codes, thus the name DDM (driver door module).

The same issue with the rear view mirror, is not a simple mirror, is a module and car won't start if removed.

Things have gotten more complex in these cars and is not as simple as testing an electrical circuit and replacing a switch. The dealers GOT US BY THE BALLS!!!!!

This is just a DIY approach now.
I would remove both driver and passenger door cards to get to the wiring.
Then I would try and locate the feed wires for the motors and CUT them, then cross passenger switch to driver motor and vis versa.

Providing the passenger side was working, this way you can identify which bit on the driver side is gone.

Afterwards the old wires can be reconnected again.
