The nut is split, but still won't budge.

If the nut is really split, try turning the splitter 180 degrees to the other side and turn that little nut into two croissant rolls.

Get it? Nuts? Rolls? You know, food? eh, never mind...

I would assume it is not a good idea to drive it with the bottom sway bar link bolt all mangled up? I can have the car towed with AAA for free, so it's not a big deal if it would be safer to tow it as it would have to be driven about 5-10 miles to get to his shop. It was going there tomorrow anyway to have new tires put on.

I drove mine for a few days with one end of the sway bar disconnected after the end rusted out - a previous owner had partially broken it. I just drove slowly and carefully around corners.
