SRS light on, Are air bags disabled or may not work

Thanks again for all the help on this. I don't worry about myself so much. I know that seems foolish, but I do alot of other risky things, and being without airbags seems a small risk. BUT I'm giving this car to my 16 year old daughter to use next month, and thats a whole different matter. Parents understand this. Thats a good idea about some contact cleaner on the connection, and I also remember reading somewhere about Volvo adding a grounding wire to the passenger side bag. After resetting today , no code has come back, so I'm guessing it is something like a bad , or weak connection. Thanks again
