Volvo calls this whole thing as "Fuel pipe, cpl" (#28), I think CPL stands for "capillary pump loop".
BTW, the p/n is 9445592 and 154USD.

so you can be sure it is not a rollover valve
Al solved what it is called anyway. Expensive - good thing you are not looking to replace it!

Not 100% sure, I think it serves as a flow regulator to prevent reverse flow...misha wrote:Do you know what is it's purpose? What this little expensive thing do?

Ok thanks.
So,this could be a confirmation that Motronic 4.4 cars which have fuel pressure damper at fuel rail DON'T have fuel pressure regulator at right rear wheel area.
Actually,if the car have fuel pressure damper at fuel rail,it doesn't have fuel pressure regulator at all.
On motronic 4.4 cars(with non-return fuel line),fuel pressure damper is replacement/substitute for fuel pressure regulator and fpd have the same function like fpr on cars with return fuel line.

So Misha, is it correct that if there is only the fuel supply line to the rail and a fuel damper that there is no regulator? I have been trying to get a definitive answer on that for a while! My pressure bleeds down at shutoff and is hard to start at times. So if you are correct, I simply replace the pulse damper...which is both cheap and easy!

Most cars with a non return fuel system have a regulator built into the pump itself.

All these cars have completelly the same fuel pumps(turbo & n/a engines).Billc1015 wrote:Most cars with a non return fuel system have a regulator built into the pump itself.

Check valve is the ONLY thing that all of these fuel pumps have inside them, not fuel pressure regulator.

I'm not sure, but i'm still in the quest about this.According to my car which have Motronic 4.4 engine menagement, there is no fpr nowhere in the fuel system as long as we have fpd at fuel rail & non-return fuel line.ajr2820 wrote:So Misha, is it correct that if there is only the fuel supply line to the rail and a fuel damper that there is no regulator? Confused_al identified this part as a "fuel pipe cpl"(capillary pump loop). Some of the members claims that they have both...fpd at fuel rail & fpr in fuel filter area.I still need to identify what i have in fuel filter area...it looks just like fpr(you can see the picture of it in my post #1).
I'm also trying to get a definitive answer about this, but i still need to search further before i can give an adequate answer.
