The reason I asked is because people say that so many oil filter companies have dropped their quality trying to beat other's prices (and meet Wal-mart pressure). I used Fram and Mann in my 740 (that I put more than 400,000 on it) and on my 960's, but switched to Mann "only" when people started complaining about oil flow to the top, lifter noise. I usually order Mann by the case, was getting them at $3.50 per filter. When I run out unexpectantly, I'd do a Fram tough guard and then back to the Mann (I was driving about 3,500 miles per month).

I forgot that I used my last two Mann fliters in July when I did the head on my daughters car and seen some cheap filter on a friends 850. I just got an order in from FCP today and there was NO filters in the box. I was placing my order on-line and could not find a sensor I needed so I call them and they ended up taking the order over the phone and I forgot the darn filters. Today is Thursday and I plan to take a 2,500 mile trip next Wednesday. I'm 250 miles from my next oil change due and there is no way the filters will get here before I leave. So, instead of paying $12 for a Volvo filter, I was looking for a good option (without spending $8 in gas chasing another filter down). LOL

The bottom line besides wanting a Mann filter is that I would rather walk 30 miles to pick up a Mann filter than to let my local stealer gouge me for any more parts. My local stealer has the highest parts and labor cost that I've seen anywhere in the USA. The one time that I let them look at my 740 they gave me a laundry list of things (service items) that needed to be done on the car (while they were talking down to me). The thing about it is that 80% of the things on the list had been done by me within the past 30 days (half within the previous 7 days). So, after I listened to their pitch, I kindly told them to shove their punch list up their you know what and demanded that they never contact me again. I only get things from them that I HAVE to. One of the last things they gouged me for was a spare key for our S70, 64 freekin dollars. I mail ordered the same style key for my 850 from a dealer in Charlotte for $32, which included shipping. Labor there is $143 per hour. SMH.

Sorry I went down that "local stealer" road and thanks for the info on the filters. I'll likely get a Wix for this time and get some Mann's on order. It's a shame that we can get such good prices on Mann filters from FCP and iPd, they actually end up being cheaper than Fram Tough Guard filters.
