Are WIX oil filters any good?

Post by rspi »

When I placed my last couple of parts orders I forgot to add oil filters. Are the WIX filters good enough or should I pay my stealer $12 for a filter.

Never heard of 'em. $12 sounds pricey even from the stealer; FCP has 'em for $5.25.

I wouldn't touch anything except Mann or the high-end stuff, like Mobil 1 or K&N.

Just buy a couple cases - shipping becomes free after $100! :)

When I worked for a Volvo Truck shop we could get Wix for cheaper than most other filters because of the relationships we had with the supplier. I used Wix in my 245 and 855 almost exclusively. I've never been dissapointed with a Wix product.

Purolator L14670 works just fine ($3.50 at Wlamart).
In fact, the Bosch Black-Color Oil Filter is Purolator L14670.

+1 on the wix. Good filters and they go on sale at Oreillys at times.

They get the thumbs up on bobistheoilguy.com

FCP Groton is free shipping any order over $25.00, which is easy enough to put together...and don't forget a handful of the oil pan and transmission drain crush washers, while you are at it!

And RSPI, many thanks for the trunk lift clip, but its for a ball mount , and mine is a clip mount (slotted). I do offer the ball clip mount to any other forum member who needs it. I'll post picture in another thread, I didn't mean to hijack this one!...Sorry.

Great filters.

NAPA Gold is the same thing for what it's worth. I've used them in both cars.
