mysterious pop sound inside cabin

I have the same sound in my 98 S70 T5. It sounds like a rock hits the windshield. It is definitely coming from under the dash to the right of the radio. It is much worse in the winter time and happens if I hit a bump. It is extremely loud and again, sounds like a rock hits the windshield.
