I'm sure it's possible to replace the heater hoses without pulling the intake. I did mine when I was doing the headgasket - so it wasn't too bad

Re: 1993 240 Heater Hoses leaking
I mentioned the intake manifold gasket and PCV "overhaul" because the removal of intake would make replacing the heater hoses MUCH easier. The intake manifold gasket is cheap, and that's all you would need to buy if you pulled the intake.

You can get to the the heater hose under the intake by removing the hoses running between the intake runners from the "pcv" box to the air intake tube to the throttle body. Then there's room to get a 1/4" drive socket (mine was 7 mm), long extension, and ratchet down between the intake runners to loosen the hose clamp. I just done the same on my 88 760 Turbo wagon.

Thanks for all the help - I got the hoses replaced, it wasn't too bad - being in the right position is everything on that bottom hose. The bottom hose was pretty spongie and weak - When I first got the car, there were many oil leaks - could that oil have contaminated the rubber of this hose?
The down side is there is still some sort of leak, and it is definitely oil - I'll post another question on the forum. But is it possible for the rear main to be leaking and spinning the oil through where the bell housing meets up with the engine?
