Had it sitting around for over a year and fitted it today. Why oh why didn't I do it earlier!! Car now redlines quickly and never hesitates.

As another follow up to the installation of the Mac boost valve I have far better cruising fuel consumption. At steady 80kph (50mph) I'm getting between 38 and 42 mpg depending on the gradient. It's still a pig on fuel around town and that's understandable given its weight.

So by all accounts if you're a highway driver this is the ticket and has already paid for itself in the fuel savings. BTW I went for the cheapest one I could find with fittings and fabricated my own connector to match the car loom.

Anyone have a source for the plug/terminals?

I'm coming up empty on finding the 979153 plug.

I could make my own connector, but that would negate reinstalling the stock type, if needed. (Not too big of a deal, really)

I used a Dremel to cut the connector off the original Pierburg unit then soldered the leads to the exposed terminals. It doesn't look pretty but does the job.

After that I used an epoxy to insulate the terminals so I can go back to a spare Pierburg unit I have if it fails.

I guess that's an option, too. I know I have a couple floating around.

I do have this older IPD BCS that came with a motor I just bought, that I could grab the pigtail from, also.

I've swapped in TCVs where a BCS is fitted to earlier cars. They have the same function electrically and mechanically.

I have been using the Porsche TCV for quite some time with good results, highly recommended. Costs about 25-30 euro/USD

i had the same issue because it was a typo. if you look at the original post pics you can see part number is 978153
but by the time i figured that out i had already ordered a set of 5 male plugs and 5 female plugs
