1999 V70 T5 Driver side CV joint axle repair, pix

...and the saga continues

Horribly jet lagged, I did a half day at work and went home, deciding to tackle the driver CV joint

I had the whole steering knuckle off in 45 minutes - including having to zip off the ball joint bolt and nut with a grinder.. ????

The Inner CV joint on the 1999 manual T5 is a conventional CV joint with outer race on the trans, cage, 6 balls and inner race splined onto the driveshaft.

The pictures tell the story..Im going to have hunting for this guy Im sure.

Update. Got a pristine used axle from Erie VoVo for 95 USd delivered, and 90"minutes later the t5 was back on the road with all new suspension and wheel bearing.

Cool--so accidently and through no fault of my own, I was correct about needing a new axle.
I've had stuff shipped down here to TX from Erie VoVo and never been disappointed.

looks ugly. any idea which part of the job ate the cage?

I did it pounding on the end of the driveshaft to knock it out of the knuckle. No way anything else would break that cage.
