Ok so i think its all clearing up. So to line up the crank, i have 2 marks on 2 of the ridges of the oil pump gear, and i have 1 mark on the block. Im assuming i center the 1 mark on the block between the 2 on the oil pump? Then i line up the slots on the back of the cams, one below and one above the head, and reinstall the sprockets. When reinstalling the sprockets, theres 3 different ways they could go on, all of which will put the timing mark in a different spot. How to i know which way is the correct one?

Once the crank is on the mark (yes you have it right), and the cam slots are in the right place (intake above, exhaust below), the engine is in time. So put on the sprockets so that their marks line up with the timing belt cover notches.

But I've never messed with VVT, for that part you need to hear from others.

If you left the hub on your life got much easier. Just make sure all of the timing marks are lined up and then rotate the engine, clockwise, by hand, one or two revolutions back to the timing marks. Continue 90 degrees clockwise past the timing marks and then go back counterclockwise to the marks again. Remove the timing belt from the camshaft sprockets and then thread the belt back on starting with the intake cam. As you go across the exhaust cam turn the sprocket so that the mark on the sprocket is vertical and would line up with the mark on the cover.

From there all you need to do is adjust the tension until the pointer is in the window. That may take a couple of times and I always check the tension again after the engine starts.

Hey everyone. Got back to the car tonight (finally) and put everything back together as you all explained. And what do ya know? It started right up. I let her run for about 5 minutes, it was rough at first (been sitting for probably 8 months total between me and the guy before me) but it smoothed out pretty quick and ran nice for the rest of the time. Also found the hose that goes from the air box back to the turbo had split along the bottom and was leaking coolant, doesn't seem like that's a hose that would have coolant in it, but it was definitely cracked and leaking, so now on to replacing that! Thanks alot for the replies and help all! Definitely learned alot on this job!
