I've already ordered the Xemodex -- once I get the ETM off the car, I'll be popping it off to them. I can report back on my experience (hopefully in a few days) if you want to wait a bit for some anecdotal evidence on the efficacy of a Xemodex repair.

For the umpteenth time
White or Yellow, there is NOTHING different between the two except the whites were original and the yellow tagged ones are/were replacements...PERIOD, The part is the same part, there is no improvement because no improvement can be made on this design.
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Xemodex freight was $70 roundtrip 2nd day Fedex to and from Canada. Express -- which I guess is one day -- is $85. Right now, Xemodex is having a spring promotion. 15% off with the coupon code "Spring15" so that just about makes 2nd day shipping free if you opt for their top-of-the line refurbishment service.

They also have certain Volvo rebuilt ABS modules on special right now. It is limited to a few part numbers, but if it happens to be the one you need, the price was unbelievably cheap -- something on the order of $50/unit.

Be advised that Xemodex has a "spring15" coupon code promotion on its website for a 15% discount right now. That just about effectively makes shipping for their top-of-the line service free. the 15% off amounts to $65 and change and the two day shipping is $70.

Another question for you guys. There are two 2001 V70 XC's at the local U-Pull-It. Worth the risk to try out one or both of their throttle modules? Thoughts?

You can do that if you just want to buy some time, but it is an inherently flawed design with a 100% failure rate. That having been said, my wife's 1999 V70 has 188k miles on it and the original ETM has not yet exhibited any signs of failure.

My major concern about buying relatively costly parts in relation to the resale value of the car is always for the next deer that jumps out from behind a bush. An expensive part with a lifetime warranty does not do me much good if installed a week before a deer hit.

The ETMs are also a moderate pain in the ads to pull on a non - turbo car due to wiring harness placement trapped behind the starter bracket. They are even more inaccessible on turbo-equipped cars.

Exactly E,
My husband is in basic training and I don't even know if he'll want to keep the car once he's out so spending $400+ is a painful thought if we aren't even keeping it.

I keep seeing a bunch of Throttle Bodies for sale...is this the same thing as the throttle module?
