do you add oil from the same location as where the trans dipstick comes out? or is there another place where you add oil to?
I will buy oil with one of these brands:
mobil 3309 or Toyota T-IV or
Ford as well. Their # is XT8QAW

Yep through the dipstick hole. DO NOT remove any bolts on top of transmission.
Get a narrow long funnel or use plastic tubing.

Its actually funny, I started to checkout every XC90 on the street and most are leaking from the same spot..lol
I think mine is leaking from the Transmission Oil Pan Gasket, and if this is the case it should be an OK job. I tried to check the transmission oil level myself without removing any hoses but it was impossible.
The only annoying issues is I have to take it to a garage to check the oil level for me, and the worrying of taking the car for a long trip...

That is what I thought too.
It is extremely unusually for the ATF to leak through the gasket between the 2 halves of the transmission. This may happen at 300K miles +, but not at your mileage.
Axle seal is easy, just remove the axle, then replace the seal using appropriate socket.
The Volvo seal is made by CORTECO if you want to save money.
I use rmeuropean dot com.
Procedure to add ATF is below.
