'98 V70 5 spd non-turbo -- Rear wiper stopped mid-travel

For the life of me, I cannot get the black plastic piece back onto the hinge that protects the wire bundle in the tailgate. I know I am asking for trouble not having that extra protection. Is there a trick, do I have to put it on before I reconnect the connectors? I took it off to get to the wires but am chickening out until I know if I have to go in for a rear wiper that stops as soon as you turn it off, it used to return to the rest position no matter when you turned it off.

my local hardware store has odd things, like hognose pliers and a variety of clips styles. hope it has this tape as well

About the tape: yep, you can get it all over, I have seen it lots of places even auto parts stores. I'm not expert about this product at all, there may be a range of qualities, I paid about 8 bucks for a 10 foot roll and I don't remember where I got it.

Erik -- Picked up a roll of "Miracle Wrap" self-fusing silicone tape -- about 10 yds at local Lowes for just over $9.50. I'll let you know how it seems after I've applied it.
