+1 on air leak, also wondering if there's a way to see actual fuel trim levels and also test the TB.

Just wanted to update this.

I removed and cleaned the ECM contacts as precopster suggested. This was harder than the internet lead me to believe without the proper tool. I ended up using a knife, but had to go back and forth on those pink slides about 40x each. They didn't slide very easily, and it was hard to know where the end was. The contacts weren't very dirty or corroded that I could see, but I scrubbed the crap out of them with a toothbrush and contact cleaner. The car ran perfectly for a week.

On another extremely humid Monday (this car seems to die on Mondays the best), it crapped out about 150 ft. from my driveway. Total stop, no limp home mode or anything, wouldn't restart. I was low on gas, and on my way to the gas station, but I know I've been much lower. I walked home, got some gas. Started up no problem. Drove to the gas station and filled up. Started up again no problem. Drove home to drop off the gas can and head to work. Died at the end of the driveway. Had to leave it there a few hours before it would start again.

I got crank rpm sensor codes, so I replaced that. The first start after that was the fastest easiest start I've had in years. Not that it started all that poorly (when it did start), but this sounded like a different car. Anyway, it ran beautifully for a week. The engine is actually still running quite well, but we haven't had any of those seriously humid days - which may or may not have played a role.

I had the exact same problem on my '89 740 (engine speed sensor), but that car would either start or not, and if it did, it would run until I turned it off, none of this failing on the highway baloney.

So, until it happens again, I'm guessing that was at least a big part of the problem.

I didn't see crank sensor errors in VIDA...where you reading Pcodes for crank sensor?

Great progress!

Looks like you may have it. Way too many codes there. Interesting how one sensor can lead to multiple others. Are misfire and throttle codes now no longer there?

Beck Arnley have a cheapie version of this sensor over on Amazon. Did you use a genuine Volvo crank sensor?

Misfires are registered by crank sensor signal deviation so if crank sensor is bad ....
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

Ah yes of course. All those codes tie back to engine position so if the engine position isn't registered correctly all hell breaks loose.

I got the ECM-5200 RPM sensor - Signal missing code after the last round of no starts. I bought genuine Volvo from FCP because I didn't want to have to wonder if I really did or did not fix it because the part wasn't good enough.

No codes since, but it's spent the past week up on blocks because of the driveshaft. I'd love to get 2 weeks of driving in this car with no problems.....
