Coolant leak

Could also be a split t-stat gasket. Look for coolant stains around there.

If you're losing that much coolant, that quickly, to completely drain the reservoir every few days.....that's quite a leak!

I would see a leak that big.

Have you tried pressuring the system. Many big name auto parts stores have loaner pumps. With engine off. pump at overflow tank to abt 8 to 10LBS and see where it is leaking from.

Cylinder leak down test and a dye test goes a long way for finding cooling system leakages regarding volvo's.

For a pressurized system, it's quick to 'push' out, unlike an open/non-pressurized system.
