98 V70 Brake squeaks - don't understand the cause

Re: 98 V70 Brake squeaks - don't understand the cause
This morning before I drove the car I gave it a good bath since it was covered in road dust and I couldnt even see out of the back window. I gave the wheels special attention. The squealing is essentially gone now. I just drove about 30 miles and got one squeal which later went away. I'll keep my eye on it.

How about piston to pad squeal?
I just put on new pad front and back and was asked if I needed brake grease. I had never had an issue with squealing, so I said no. Bad Idea..Now most of the time backing out of the driveway I squeal. Not so much going forward, but some more now then before. I call this a harmonic squeal between the pad and piston, hence the brake grease. At some point I will redo and put the grease in, but other irons in the fire right now.
Just another thought.

I grease both the back of the pads and the caliper pistons when I change the pads. Everything was done correctly 6 months ago by me.
