Cost to replace V70 engine

Um, maybe if you lived here you might have a different view of the 'labor rates in Canada are lower than the US'. Clearly abscate you need to come up here and check it out. Dealer Volvo rates in Calgary are $165 + tax an hour.

A rear main seal swap 7 years ago cost me around $2000 in labour. The book time for that job was 10.5 hours. which is basically separating the trans and engine and not actually removing the engine and swapping all the ancillaries over.

So if the engine is around $1000 from a guaranteed source like Erie Vo-vo then $2300 for labour does not seem to far out of line.

Heck, even my local trusted repair shop charges $120/hour

I have been looking into the same thing for a week, or so. The only shop which will consider doing the swap wants $900. Engines really vary. Two at about 155K miles, $350 and 750. One with 40K at $1900 (the guy chuckled when he gave me the price). Anyway, low mileage engines in the 20 year bracket will be a little hard to come by.

If you price something at Erie VOVO in Utica, Faust, I could get that to you on one of my drives on the cheap.

I think they offer a warranty which is close enough to us to have value.
