I don't think so. It it did the filter would be too short for the housing by design. I've actually had the filter stay on the engine after pressing it down into the cup as well though.oragex wrote: 19 Dec 2017, 13:03 If I remember, when I pressed down the new filter into the housing cap, next time I removed the cap for an oil change I always had the filter sitting inside the housing cap. But when I rather inserted the filter into the block, at the next oil change when the cap came out the filter was staying inserted into the block.
I wonder if the oil would bypass the filter in either situations?
Which is worse:
Starting an engine with a bit of oil still left in places (you just emptied a jug of it down into the top if nothing else, on top of that I always do oil changes on a hot engine = oil has just been everywhere) or a cold engine that's been sitting for a day or two with time for the oil to run down into the bottom?
