Alright, I'm looking at getting the Autel AL619: https://www.amazon.com/Autel-AL619-Auto ... ords=autel Is this the one you had jonesg?

One of its marketing points is:

Turns off Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) and ABS/SRS warning lights, clears codes and resets monitors

In my case, this light does come on when I start the engine, as do all of the warning lights, but then they disappear to indicate that their power-on tests have passed, including this one.

The "SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT" message in the DIM does stay on, though.

My concern is that the Autel would only be able to reset cases where the actual SRS light was on, and I'd be paying $115 for something that doesn't reset the message in the DIM.

when i bought my V70 I tripped the srs by mistake and bought an autel to clear it so I could get a sticker.
Sold the autel and got vida later.
Either way, get something, it's a pain without.

jonesg, when you used the Autel to clear your codes, do you recall if you had the SRS light, the "SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT" message in the DIM, or both? Just wondering if it would clear the SRS codes even when Volvo's CEM codes are present underneath.

Do you have a laptop that can run Vida, straight off or in Virtualbox?

If so then spending anywhere near $100 or more on anything but a Dice seems like a questionable decision. I paid $70 or so for mine. Works like a charm.

I had the autel 802, cost $225 Amazon.
Sold it to a friend $160.

I had the mssg in the dialogue box and was told it would fail inspection, caused by removing rear seat with battery connected. The red warning light wasnt present, maybe because i reconnected the seat belt wire harness .

Vida on laptop is much better.

I bought a pre-installed vida on HP laptop running win7 pro. No virtual machine needed.

There's sometimes guys here and on sweedspeed selling them, $185. Bought dice interface from amazon.

Some of the smartphone apps look good too.
Don't know what their capabilities are but buyers seem happy.

I took a quick look to see what's available to buy for DiCE units, and it appears that they run $55-$80 and mostly ship from China. I realize they will all be knockoff units, just not sure how to pick a "good" knockoff. Also as they're coming from China it appears the fastest shipping method is 5-8 days minimum.

You have little recourse buying from china.
I've read a few articles where buyers got stuck.
Cheapo ones don't have colored leds, they're not all the same quality. Better ones probably have WiFi too. Buying from Amazon I'd want it in 2 days or forgetit.

Check my post: SRS Light reset. I had the same issue and used the iCarSoft device. You have to clear seemingly unrelated codes in the CEM BEFORE resetting the SRS light. I have the device in southwestern CT.
