So autozone axle was for a FWD not AWD. It seems the part number for the correct axle (from volvo) is incorrect also. might have been miscommunication on the phone but I believe this is the correct number #8252051. waiting on another axle from Oreilys will keep you guys updated.

Axles for manual P2's are very hard to find, I am going through the same process right now. Sounds like my Indie found a source and he ordered it (passenger side as well). We shall see if it fits when it gets here.
A lot of vendors have auto axles listed as manual axles, which is really bad.

I am right there with you!! Please share source if axle fits properly. I believe the measurement from the end of the axle to the edge of the pressed on bearing closest to CV joint should be 20 23/32 inch.

You have an R though. I imagine the AWD axle is not the same as the FWD axle.
My axle is supposed to arrive on Thursday. If it does it will be installed early next week. Then I can take measurements.

Who is Fork?

It looks like you are looking to do this on your 99? If so, that's different than what has been the discussion in this thread, which is for P2 cars.
The manual axles in your 99' are the same as the auto axles, so you have nothing to worry about.
