I looked all over the webs for any info/sizing on the brushes, couldn't find much for Volvo. There is a lot for the BMW ABS motors. DonnVa....how was the procedure to remove the pump? Does the whole controller have to come off or can you disconnect pump separately? Would be great to not have to do the hydraulics, steel into Aluminum.

Actually it’s pretty easy. Disconnect the battery in the trunk. Remove the air box, dismount and move engine fuse block, remove strut brace. Then take out the three torx screws that mounts the whole assembly to the bracket and then the two torx screws that hold the motor to the ABS valve body. Use one or two thin flat head screw drivers to start lifting it up off the valve body. No fluid is in that assembly unless something is seriously broken. Lol Airbox is of course is a pull out. The fuse block is two 10mm, one under the air box, one in a hole under the positive leads to the fuse box.

I just started getting the ABS light on my dash and "BCM-0070 - Pump motor supply voltage Faulty signal" in VIDA. So I replaced my ABS motor today w/ a unit I pulled from a same year ('05) XC70. Once I got home, I pulled the metal case off, cleaned all of the dusty carbon and put it in.
I have no idea how many miles were on the XC in the yard I pulled this motor from, but it had a timing belt sticker from 6 years ago (115K miles), so it could have a lot of miles on it. But both brushes had more life than mine. They hard to tell, but here's a picture: I took apart my old motor, here's a picture of my original brushes. One brush has ample life, the other is very worn down. I measured the brushes, I believe they are 5x5mm and there is a "12" stamped onto the top. I'm almost positive that's the length. They would be a pain to pull out as they're hard wired directly to the plug with short wires.

What kind of bearing puller did you use. I have two and neither will do the job.

I had an Amish guy pull it off! I stopped into an Amish Electronics repair facility in rural PA that I always pass. They mainly work on power tools, electric fences, etc. I wanted to see if they would be able to solder in the brushes. He used a tiny little puller and had it off in about 3 seconds.

I still haven’t gotten the bearing off mine and I’m not too excited about buying another speciality tool I’ll use once in 10 years. Let me know how that works out and how much they charge. I’ll probably go the same route.
