Opinion needed: 2001 S60 T5 VS 2005 S80 T6 driver seat comfort Topic is solved

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

In some literature my interior was called the Sport interior, other years the Studio interior. Ford years were just strange. For the early 2004 year it was still the sport interior. The Sport interior came available with standard leather, or upgraded leather with leather sides and back. Forgot to mention that. Sort of like real wood, brushed metal, or woodgrain were all optional as the interior accent. Go figure... June

Mine is an Elite also according to Carfax and have what looks like the same seats? So, what makes an Elite?
.
My seats.

When you are ready to part with your T6 can I be first in line? Also, before then can you install the Transgo Shift Kit so the 4T65E Trans will still be in great shape when it's mine. It really made a difference in my 03 T6.

MoVolvos, your Carfax has it wrong or your car has a junkyard interior. The Elite had the Premier style seats with the color coordinated piping as well as all the extra options standard like tv screens in the back if the headrests and special wheels only the Elite could have not available on any other trim level. The car said Elite somewhere. And most importantly $12,000 above the T6 as I recall. June

This is from someone's 2005 online. I have only laid eyes on one Elite one time on the showroom floor. They didn't make many for sure. June

Remember June is the one who ventilated her seats with a Philips screw driver when the weather got hot. Just saying.......

Are you sure a P2 skin is going to go onto a P80 (1998) seat or am I misunderstanding the swap?

The interior is a little worn that's for sure especially the driver's seat. I've removed every door panel and put adhesive on every part that had the old dried out factory adhesive, which was the entire panel. A junk yard interior might be better but it's all good now unless I bought a bad batch of adhesive  .

 I meant someone previously may have put a junkyard interior in. If your car has my interior that is. If it has the accent piping w nicer nice seating and the extras like Genuine wood, dvd system and those special aluminum wheels than you have a Elite, if not than not... my interior is quiet still without squeaks or rattles. I've added adhesive to nothing. June

The 03 could have been the guinea pig for some long term experimental test on some new interior materials.

I found the package sheet for the various years of S80. 1998 through 2001 2.9 S NA and was the base model, then the T6 SE which is the base model T6, and the top of the range T6 Executive. For the 2002 year only, there was a 70th anniversary edition in between the SE T6 and the T6 Executive. For the 2003 year the Elite takes the place of the 70th anniversary edition.

In 2004 and 2005 the base model became the FWD 2.5T, with the AWD 2.5T, then the 2.9S, and the SE T6, with the top of the line becoming the T6 Premier.

For the 2006 year model 2.5T FWD, and 2.5 AWD were the only models available. Around 5000 cars were made.

Volvo under Ford apparently tried to reinvent the S80 almost every year from 2002 through 2006 and each level had different seats. My 2002 was a Executive, I really miss that car! My 2004 is a SE T6. It's thoroughly confusing for sure! June

Thanks for all that info June. Now I feel better about the 2003 not being a Guinea Pig for later models. I have a phone in the car which I removed because it was broken but I don't see the armrest phone holder like yours. Phone pad is still in the dash.

So there is a possibility it could have been a Base Elite not that it really matters. The engine, transmission combo and cruising in the freeway is where the car shines. No special rims and no real wood. My drives are short so haven't check to see what and if it has a DVD system.
Blessings,

BKM
