Once you get a bit of a cut in it, you may find a good whack with a hammer and cold chisel (wear safety glasses) is enough to split the remainder.
Good Luck!
Neil.

I came here just to see if anyone ever managed to replace that bearing. I tried once to get one off and failed. I have a 20T press and accessories. I figured I could cut it off, but never found a replacement source. The one I was trying to remove was made in Poland.
I gave up. But someday, I'll probably try to rebuild my real, GKN halfshafts and doing that bearing would be part of the job. I once went to NAPA to get a reman....and the remanufacturing job was done......with a can of spray paint; the bearing was the old one with paint on it. CVJ in Denver.....the Axle Queen....she said they don't do 'those volvos with the bearing' but that was long ago.
I was honestly surprised at how much force I put on it without it budging. I didn't add heat because I didn't want to burn up the seals in case I failed to remove it.
DID ANYONE GET A NUMBER FOR THE BEARING? OR DIMENSIONS?
thanks....

I just found this info:
Does anyone have information on this bearing? On the bearing, I can tell it was made in Poland. Here are the numbers on the bearing: 114-879BTNG2KS350. I hope I can get the information on the specs. If someone knows where to buy this bear that will be great. Thanks

In the UK I found a place that lists intermediate bearings for P80's. MAPCO I have read of, other brand not. The listing I bought from in the past for a Febest bearing as used on a Ford Transit that was in Turkey is no longer there.
https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/volvo/v70 ... rive-shaft
Volvo do still sell their bearing for -98 cars (850's) but not listed for later cars 98-00, but they are the same part.

See my thread on axle restoration for info about a successful replacement of the bearing on both 2000 5-speed and 1999 4-speed axles.
Regarding the part, scot850 wrote up the replacement bearing in detail in that post and the whole thread. For my rebuilds, I bought part 9181693 from FCP. It fits the axle shaft and carrier bearing holder perfectly. However, the edge of the bearing is rounded (as shown in scot850's pictures), not flat like the original. Thus it only contacts the bearing holder at its faces and the center of the edge. I have not experienced any problem with this so I cautiously recommend it.
