...and here is the28 grams of prevention

When you do your Volvo recommended %two year brake fluid flush 😃😃😃 replace all the bleeders with new ones every other flush, or every flush in salty, crusty , wintry areas.

This will add $30 to your flush bill, but that’s worth an hour of labor to me, at least.

Could also ask FCP if you can replace two every other year And return two as wear items.

Here’s your part number. 30665014

Actually, I add a bit of penetrant fluid (PB Blaster etc.), maybe one drop at the junction of the bleeder and the caliper and let it soak in beforehand. Never have a problem with them.

don't forget the rubber cap with a bit of grease over the bleeder.

The bleeder screw size for both front and rear calipers are M10 x 1.00 x 35mm (length). The fronts have a 11mm hex head while rears have a 10mm hex head. They will fit all 4 calipers. Just width, thread pitch, and length is all that matters.

Bleeder torque...it’s too low to do accurately with a torque wrench. I’m not even sure I have ever seen a valid spec I believe

One source says you torque the bleeder the same as the brake hose - that’s wrong

You want to clean it thoroughly so that the taper forms up smoothly on the corresponding taper on the caliper

Once it contacts , 1/8-1.4 turn more, no more

If you are using a 6 inch ratchet handle, it’s too tight

I expect you mean 1/8 to 1/4 turn after contact.

My thought is 1/8 turn past contact is enough.

- Since ATE makes brake calipers for Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Porsche etc. etc.

- Volvo PN 30665014 has a dimension of L = 36 mm; thread M10 x 1.
Current price is ~ $9.00/each!

- BMW 34116768018 is basically ATE-390354 and also has a dimension of L = 36 mm; thread M10 x 1.
Current price is ~ $3.39.

- If anyone in forum buys ATE-390354 and installs it sucessfully in the Volvo, please report back.
This is bc if you refresh these bleeders x 4 every 8-10 yrs, it is good to have a source for identical item for much less.
BONUS: the ATE-390354 includes the rubber cap.
The Volvo PN above does not include the rubber cap!

My 2007 S60 2.5T 115K Right Front brake caliper bleed screw is broken with about 2 mm sticking out.

Has anyone tried this youtube trick: drill a hole so the reverse tap can drive it out?

Heat that thing up nice and hot, several times , then try a sharp vice grip to easily out
