Both the light switch and the steering wheel module ( dimmer stalk) are CANBUS on the 2005 models, and it’s the first year of fast CANBUS , the one that gets you to great places like Toronto and Montreal faster.

As a mod , we have an agreement with Volvo not to host wiring diagrams here but I can send them to you if I find them. You are free to post them here to meat out your thread

No the dash blue light did not illuminate. High beam system was kaput. A twice leading up to failure the high beams turned on while my car was parked killing the battery. Putting a used switch or cleaning the old is not worth it as a replacement from Volvo isn't expensive. June

Problem has been identified. I broke a piece of plastic when I double pumped the high beam lever. I assumed I had created a current surge that blew out a driver transistor, and I led darryl down that road. After locating the post I linked to above, and seeing your post, it became evident that a failure in the stalk could be the issue. I did not anticipate it could a be a structural failure, not electrical, but as soon as I looked at the white lever with the three contacts, it looked like an ear attached to it was broken off. In fact, the white piece at the left arrow was formally attached to where the right arrow is. When you pull the lever, the arm rotates CCW, and the three contacts move against those on the circuit board.

I appreciate the bandwidth here, and the assistance in coming up with a plan. Replacing the stalk is literally a 10 minute job, and it isn't that expensive.

Sorry to gravedig this thread but this was the only thread online that I could find with the exact same issue I have.

'06 S60 2.5T AWD, European model. Pulled stalk and high beams crapped out. Dashboard doesn't show blue indicator. No click when pulling stalk.

Does the '06 S60 have a similar design on the inside of the stalk?
