Welcome Steve!
Funny, I just finally (after ~ 10 years of ownership) fixed the switchblade key on my 311k mile XC70. The key had been just like yours since I bought the car in 2012. It was never a big deal, I just always inserted it so that the fob wouldn’t dangle down by my leg. The fix took maybe 10 minutes. I’m allowing the glue to set up overnight, so technically I guess it’s more like a 12-hour repair.

There’s several videos online, most depicting a procedure that involves using a narrow kerf saw to cut the halves apart. I had a junkyard key on hand so I just took a stab at it with a flat blade screwdriver & it came apart nicely, no cutting involved. Pretty easy to figure out how it works & what has gone awry you’re once inside. All you’ll likely need from your donor is the actual switchblade button.

Anyhow, welcome aboard!

I bought replacement cases and transponder chips. Transferred/repaired as needed and had the units reprogrammed at the dealer. The transponder chips do fail and obviously prevent the car starting. I swapped the springs and mechanical keys over, although I think I paid $15/key to have a locksmith here cut new ones from the blanks that came with the fobs.
