I did the follow up glove test for PCV on 2001 V70 T5 after the complete PCV cleanup and replacement. The glove sucked in at idle = complete success.
Next up: fix the tank vent system.

I pulled the crank gear, new one coming. damaged splines due to lost crank nut.
we can fix em.

Nice jones - I recall from an earlier thread the gear splines are a lot softer than the crank splines so they get damaged and the crank will be fine.

That makes sense, sacrificial consumable part.
There is very little damage to splines, only a short section but enough to allow a wobble and condemn it.
I really need a decent 2 jaw gear puller.

Of all types of tools, pullers seem to be:
1. Expensive.
2. Limited flexibility of use.
3. Seldom used.
4. Priceless when they make the job easy.

I recently rented / borrowed one from an O'Reilly Auto Parts. Arms were the wrong shape, fingers didn't reach far enough to grab the thing I needed to pull. Flipped the arms and fittings every which way. No go. I'd buy a good one if I thought it would do the job.

After many decades of wrestling getting a three armed puller into things, I saw someone put arubber band on the arms for the first time last week

I actually wondered about a huge (yuge?) hose clamp around the arms and whether it would just slip. Nothing anywhere near that big in my clamp box.

Years ago I saw a new three jaw puller design with a frame that pushed the jaws together. It looked helpful. I have not seen this design in years. Maybe they were too expensive.
