Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)
I seem to recall the clips in my kit were too long. If you go way back my history to 2013 that's when I did my AC and heater core on my T5, I think I wrote it up then

I've had 5/8" brass 90 degree hose barbs connecting two heater hoses through each hole in the firewall for about four years now. No clips, no o-rings, no leaks. I'd guess the original design is an artifact of the vehicle assembly process, or maybe to accommodate different hose routing for turbo and NA models, though I'm not aware of any differences in the heater hoses.

I did remove what was left of the old rings and spacers since the newer design incorporates a spacer. Looking at pictures of the junction on fcp shows there is definitely a sleeve missing. I've ordered a replacement.

Yep, that's broken. Same thing happened to my cousin's S70. You're either going to have to connect those hard lines to the heater core hard lines with some good coolant hose or you'll have to replace that junction box in its entirety.
There's a really good writeup on here about doing the alternate method. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=68158

Today, I installed the new starter in the new-to-me '99 V70 XC but don't seem to be getting power at the green wire. Relays are getting power all right, but I think I may have broken the green wire at some point while getting the old one out.
I got no click upon cranking but hear a "sproing" when turning the key off, and it seems to be coming from the area around the passenger side door.

That's funny, I get the same springy noise in my R. I've never had that in any of the other 4 P80s I've dealt with.brunocerous wrote: ↑07 Dec 2018, 13:24 Today, I installed the new starter in the new-to-me '99 V70 XC but don't seem to be getting power at the green wire. It sounds like it's coming from the console. It's really weird.

That's hilarious! It's like those kids' activity books where you have to find what wrong with this picture.
I think the screw (and the "vent") in the PCV hose is my favorite. The wire-activated turbo waste gate (?) is a close second.
Was the upper mount "repaired" with a plunger?

Believe the sprong noise is the airbag temporary power module. Haven't pulled one apart but believe it is similar to an old flash where a capacitor charges up and then as you turn it off, it is setup to intentionally discharge in a controlled manner.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑07 Dec 2018, 13:33That's funny, I get the same springy noise in my R. Wisdom requires knowledge as a prerequisite, but knowledge can be developed due to a lack of wisdom.
In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.
