Yeah it snowed here too and is cold as a mutha right now. When you crawl under you ride it's right under air pump, you have to drop the skid panel down to see it, it looks just like the big relay on the fan shroud but the prongs are a little different.Dave123 wrote:Snowed last night so will have to wait to see where it might be.

Only one relay on the fan shroud - and it's for the fan.shiloh51933 wrote:Did you find the relay? I was told the same thing about it being one of the relays on the fan shroud.

Mine has two and one of them looks just like the sir pump relay. The air pump relay is located right under the air pump itself, drop the front skid plate down, it's the skid plate connected to the front ground effect. n Look on the battery side and you'll see the relay with the air pump right behind it, you can't miss. It will take you all of about five minutes to change it out...taking a tire off is more complicated than changing this relay, lol.vjaneczko wrote:Only one relay on the fan shroud - and it's for the fan.shiloh51933 wrote:Did you find the relay? So here is the deal on my s70. The only wires coming out of the pump are the ones that go to the connector. The connector is located just behind the driver side headlight. I don't have the configuration shown where the relay and ground coming out of the pump are located right next to the pump. So where is the relay? Hate to think that I have to go to a dealer, yikes!!!!

on our 96 the relay was actually zip tied to the pump, the first time the pump threw a code it was for a loose wire in the relay, fixed it 6 months later another code...dead pump (that only runs for less than a 120 seconds upon start up) and it remained that way until we traded it...no performance issues. good luck!

I'll take a look at my S70 tonight; I did that over 3 years ago and can't remember where the relay is to be honest.

On my '97 850, here's the pump and relay - quite cozy together. I'd think your '98 would be the same. Just stuck my camera under the bumper and took the pic. If I recall, there's a clip that's a part of the pump bracket on which to mount the relay.

You can also look by the fuse block by the drivers side strut tower, I know some of the V70's air pump relay is there and since a S70 is the sedan version of a V70 then yours should be also. Some of us were talking about the 850 models which are almost identical but some things have been moved around, Good Wrenching.Dave123 wrote:So here is the deal on my s70.
