But, let's see how reliable is our repair.
Let's not forget, all of our ABS modules have worked for a certain period of time, after what, the solder joint has cracked.
Time will tell.
I'd wager good money to say it's a lifetime fix, only because I've done a ton of soldering over time. Any cold soldered connection isn't going to hold up with vibration and temp changes. Resoldering the pins changes the bond entirely. If those pins were preheated at the factory they would have never cracked.

Here's the killer tip.

Using a bench vise and a wonderbar (stanley prybar). You can have one of these cracked open in under 3 minutes or less without doing any cutting or damage to the case. Just run a utility knife around in the deep groove of the case, set it in the vise and use the bar to break the seal.

I'll take a pic next time I do one and post it

guys I finished my job, it is fantastic. I ll try to share my experience

Yesterday i was tryin to find the external torx socket and couldnt get from any where. but suddenly today i got the idea of using a normal socket. I used 5mm 6point socket, 4mm also can be used as the bolt head is smaller to the end. After taking the module I spent nearly half n hour to open it, finally i broke the lockes and managed to open, I couldn't find any crack from any or the pin. so i resoldered all the pins including the small pin came from the big connecter. and cleaned bote side of the connecters and put it back.

I was very frustrated to see the ABS light and the track off light on. danm it!!

but just got in the car and enjoyed lil bit in the black ice ijn my back yard

wow light gone, so then i took it to the streeet and highway, it worked, it didnt come back wooohoo

My next job is the danm check engine light. will find the code and cyaa guys

thanks guys for providing informations, I have photos will update later
nw gtg

thanks guys

ok it seems from what I am reading here concerning the "ABS" & "TRAC" lights intermittently turning on and the "speedo" dropping out as well as the check engine light turning on ,things seem to point to the "ABS" unit. I been pounding my brain trying to figure this problem out.it sounds like I need to pull my ABS unit and try the suggested repair. thank you all for the suggestions .and wish me luck.

I have never seen or heard about the engine light being related to the ABS module, but certainly your module is bad. The instructions posted here will fix your speedo and ABS issues no problem.

I just purchased a 1996 850GLT. The ABS light occasionally comes on while driving. The ABS works- I tried it a few times. But my other issues are the speedometer reads about 10mph lower than actual speed measured with a GPS (tires are 195/60/15-stock size), the tach reads zero at idle and about 2000 at 70mph (again measured off the GPS), plus the fuel guage reads lower than it should (the previous owner replaced the fuel pump, so that may just be him replacing the sending unit incorrectly). Does all or most of this sound like the ABS module? Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Welcome to MVS.

Your problems could be a failing module but, since it is intermittent, it is more likely dirty reluctance rings for the wheel sensors. The fronts are fairly easy to get to from the back side of the hubs but for the rears you will need to remove the calipers and the rotors.

This thread will be helpful for the rears:

The problems with the instrument cluster are more than likely as a result of the cluster not being properly reset to zero after an odometer gear replacement. Snap a picture of your instrument cluster with the key off and post it back.

I suspect you are correct about not setting the dash back to zero, based on where the needles sit when the car is off. The dash has definitely been removed. I will find the posts about replacing the speedo gear and see if I can reset it. Thanks. And as for the ABS, I'll have to wait for some warm weather to tackle that project. Thanks again for your help. :D
