Correct, the serrations on the arm form to the harder motor stub. There is a torque for the nut but can't recall what it is. I will try to find it for you. It is 16Nm, or 12 ft/lb for front and rear arms on wagons.
Tried looking up the air vent valve. The pictures on the Volvo websites are not helpful in the slightest! All you see is a smudge!
EEuro picture is much better. So just a plastic can with a one-way valve in it?

Looking at on-line pictures helps to get a good position and then mark with tape on the windshield. Once the splines are cut into the arm on tightening you can always remove it and reposition if for example the rest position changes during use.
Take the opportunity to lube all the motor joints it is amazing how much smoother they run with some love!
