I'll check it out before I start turning wrenches (if possible). I bought this at the local Volvo dealership and the guy was completely confident that he sold me the right part. I don't remember if they asked for my VIN number or not, but they usually do. The dealership I use for parts actually is very competitive with prices after you add in any shipping cost the online places charge. The convenience of walking up, asking for a part and walking out with it the same or next day is worth a small extra cost to me. When I buy from the dealer most of what I've gotten is only a few dollars more than the same part priced online even if the online price has no shipping charge. Of course there's always the taxes you can skip online. I've gotten some great online deals too. I usually price it both ways and see which is the best deal.E Showell wrote:Be careful with the front engine mount under the crank pulley. This is a VIN number specific part order since there are two different styles of mount and they are definitely not interchangeable. One appears to be pretty easy to change, the other not so much due to how the part is designed. There is reinforcement webbing that interferes with the ability to mount and turn a wrench on one style of the mounts. Here's hoping you don't have that style. . .

Mine is a complete waste of time, the parts counter has very limited knowledge about the older cars and prices are through the roof. Just grumbling ...

My local dealer -- Bridgewater Volvo - has an online parts arm, www.volvocountryparts.com, that is price competitive and is an MVS sponsor (I believe). Prices can be better than FCP, but you'll generally pay shipping.

I replaced the two easiest mounts and it was a straightforward job made much easier withe the help and advice I got here. Thanks! I still get a lot of vibration at stop lights. I'll have to consider doing the other three at some point. I used oe parts from the dealer.
While working on one of the big bolts I had to pull out a dried up obstruction that was lodged next to the serpentine belt. At first I couldn't figure out what it was ...until I saw the teeth. It was a squirrel head. He either lost his head and got too close or got to close and lost his head.
