He....you did that with a T5.I did that few times with my non turbo.

Bmw driver was pretty surprised when i pass it at 200km/h in light curve on freeway.

230,000 isn't "entirely a lot" of miles if it's been taken care of.

I can never quite tell if these cars are particularly durable or if they have owners who tend to take good care of them. Probably some combination of the two.

I'm sure it's a combination. I've seen some pretty ratty looking ones with upwards of 250k-300k on them, but I've also seen some really nice ones with those kind of miles.
If you take care of any car, you'd be surprised how long it can last.

As for a NA car being as "peppy" as a TURBO 850, I have 5 words for you guys...
1. Get
2. Your
3. Turbo
4. System
5. Fixed.

I have a little over 291,000 miles on my '95 T-5R and pulled my turbo to install a 16T with less miles. My 20 year old turbo with over 291,000 miles on it is as tight as a drum and is not leaking a drop. It is actually tighter than the 16T that I had installed with only 135,000 miles on it.

Sad fact is that I have found SEVERAL of these turbo cars with all kinds of vacuum lines hooked up WRONG. Causing the car to boost around 1 or 2 psi.

Real sad story is that a guy had a very well maintained '97 850 T5 with all kinds of new parts on it. He suddenly experienced very poor performance and somehow came to the conclusion that the engine was bad. My friend got a hold to it and rapped it. The car showed up in the junk yard today and my friend pulled the radiator. When he did, he discovered a tennis ball size hole in the intercooler. Car trashed and scrapped for a $50 intercooler problem. SMH

I've got to find a way to limit boost on my T5 for Abby in college ; that's not going to be easy to drive in winter

Manual boost control set to wherever you want it. Adjust the wastegate to have the boost come on "later"

Put 4 good 15" snow tires on it as well and save the Pegs...young girls don't always avoid the pot holes

In response to one of your earlier questions: Drop an HPT engine and turbo into the 97 GLT, also swap over a 97 HPT ECU, and you are driving a T5.

Thanks! It says I drive a '99 T5 because I had that there for questions. It's my cousin's car, I don't have a Volvo... yet.
