I hear you, worth a try. Yes you can clean it more easily with it out but I wouldn't bother.

If you have checked and there is likely no unmetered air then I would highly recommend swapping in a junkyard MAF at this point, to complete/confirm the diagnosis. Make sure it is a Bosch MAF.

Okay the car has been running fine with the MAF disconnected but I can notice I'm getting worse gas mileage.

Is there a difference with the MAF on a 1998 V70 GLT which is what I have.

And a 1998 V70 r or a V70 t5 which is a MAF that I found on eBay

Can I put the v70r V70 t5 MAF In my V70 GLT

You need Bosch # 0 280 217 107
For pre '99 cars.
'99+ have Denso management.

May try to clean it with MAF specific cleaner one more time.

I used brake cleaner. (Maybe I messed it up with that? )

Should I try once more with MAF cleaner?

Ok, I know it's supposed to be Bosch only for this part...

But have u guys had any luck, or has anyone, installed this Duralast unit?

After a brake cleaner it would be toast even if it had a chance to be cleaned with proper cleaner.

Don't waste your time and money in anything that isn't Bosch # 0 280 217 107.

You will be chasing your tail.

Used Bosch one from a junkyard would be better than anything aftermarket when it comes to sensors on these cars.
ECT,O2,Maf,TPS....etc...must be oem.

MAF connector can also be a culprit.
All of them eventually fail at this age.
After a brake cleaner you will need new one anyway...but if problem persists...maf connector is next suspect.

Ok, got a MAF and it's the correct part number.

(Check the part, not the tag)
Part number 0-280-217-107

Will throw it in and see how it does!

Remove negative battery cable while installing new Maf in order to reset ecu and fuel trims.

Ahhhh good call I didn't know that.

Then throw it in, hook back up neg term and start it up?
