What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Today I drove my P2 across a mostly empty parking lot and spotted a nice (Betty) black V60 wagon. I’m guessing 2015-17. They look really good. T5 AWD. Not too big, not too small. We’ve wondered sometimes if we could get by with a Golf GTI 4 door, but a V60 would be much much better.

I considered threading #6-32 3/4" through the tap&die and then cutoff excess with Dremel; but a return and replace with store credit felt simpler.

I have a pair of burglar (elbow) length bolt cutters

then used a little sand paper. I purchased it from HF in the mid 90's in case I lose my keys to my tool box that was chained to the wall in the shop at Acura.

A colleage of mine has a V 60R and loves it, nice car in orange. We bought an XC 60 for my wife last year with the 3.0 turbo. Great car, same mileage as my ‘03 XC 70 but more power, nothing bad to say about them at all other than it’s a little high to get the dogs into. I still prefer my old XC overall but we needed to have 1 “newer” car between us. I do like the looks of the P3 XC 70’s though and could see myself in one of those one day .

Mrs Dr Abscate insists on one newer car, a 2006 E83 Bavarian Money Waster.

It has been a good ride.

Came home to find she has ordered an Electric Vespa ...I’ve told her NYS requires a leather outfit.

She’s an oldest child, Catholic school educated so she checked the regulations , then ordered her leather kit.

Today I’ll take down the redirect from nysdmv.gov from my router

Not a good news day today...

When I changed the torque rod a couple of weeks ago I noticed undertray was covered in oil. Looking around I saw the bottom of the turbo was covered in oil, I wiped it dry and took the car for a drive, sure enough there was more oil leaking when I returned. The turbo drain on these cars are prone to leaking at the seal but mine was dry, the oil inlet feed banjo bolt was also dry so that is as much as I know about turbos and decided to book the car into a turbo specialist for further inspection.

I dropped the car into the specialist this morning and just had a call to tell me the thrust collar bearing on the cold side is leaking and needs rebuilt. I as told I could have left it for a while without doing any harm but the leak would just get worse. He was surprised that this was the cause as he thought it might have been an intercooler problem. The car won't be ready until the end of the week.

Today I made an appointment with the indie to have the new Ansa exhaust from RockAuto installed on the V70. PO had issues with exhaust leaks and replaced the resonator with a straight pipe. I wasn't a fan of that because the car is a bit louder than it should be. Can't wait to get it done now.

Switched over to winter washer fluid today. Old summer stuff turned to slush and had to run the pump for a bit to get the new fluid through.

Had a long crank this morning, i dont think i let the fuel pump prime and the check valve may be a little leaky. Will monitor next cold start to see.
